Replacing Fan AMD Socket 754/939/940
Replacing Fan AMD Socket 754/939/940
It was very uncomfortable if we are cool-asiknya use computers computer suddenly dies. Whereas other electronic equipment are still burning, electricity is still flowing well.
Even if the voltage is unstable even to the power outage, we had anticipated using the stabilizer and UPS, so if power goes out we still have enough time to turn off the computer with the correct procedure.
There must be something wrong with our computer so that the computer suddenly died. We open the computer case and began to check one by one existing components.
The procedure was done checking component. The first one done is to test the power supply. All the voltage generated is still normal. Then the memory cleaning, cleaning the dust that is on the motherboard and tidy up the existing cables.
After all components cleaned, we put all the components again. After that we turn on the computer anymore. From the boot process to enter into an existing operating system, everything works normally. After waiting a while, the computer is dead. And the cause is the processor fan is no longer spinning.
Death of the fan causes the processor to processor overheating / heat. Processor fan has an important role to remove the heat generated by the processor when working in order to remain at safe temperatures to do its work. If the processor has overheated, the computer automatically turns off. If this happens continuously can cause the processor to be damaged and damaging other components.
There are many types of processor fan on the market today. Starting from that just use regular heatsink with the fan up to a high tech man-made from manufacturers such as Thermaltake and Arctic Cooling.
In general, the processor fan is made based on the socket type processor, the Intel Socket LGA 1366, Intel Socket LGA 775, Intel Socket 478, AMD Socket AM2/AM2 +, AMD Socket 754/939/940, and AMD Socket A (462).
To replace the processor fan is very easy because in general the installation of the processor fan only uses a system of pins / clamps for can be properly connected to the processor.
In the case this time we will replace the fan processor type Intel Socket LGA 775. Before replacing the processor fan there are several things that must be prepared. The first of course fan replacement processor, pasta silicon / thermal paste, tissue or soft cloth, and a screwdriver minus (-).
After all the equipment complete, remove the old processor fan by opening the locking pin using a minus screwdriver clockwise. Apply to all existing locking pin. Remove the processor fan carefully and do not forget to unplug the power cable of the fan installed on the motherboard.
Perform cleaning residual paste silicon processor which in body tissue or cloth using a dry cloth. Also remove the bottom of the processor fan which we will install, then apply a paste of silicon at 2 seed rice and flatten the surfaces. After wrapping, install the new fan.
Place the pin lock in accordance with the existing holes on the motherboard. To lock pins, we simply press the locking pin that is until you hear a 'click'. Ensure that all locking pins inserted properly and the fan did not waver. Do not forget to attach the fan power cable to the motherboard.
Once the fan is installed, turn on the computer for the last test. By replacing the processor fan that has been damaged, your computer can work normally again because it no longer occurs on the processor overheating.
Tips on choosing a processor fan:
- Make sure you buy a processor fan in accordance with your processor socket.
- Note also that unused power consumption at the processor fan.
- Select materials that can deliver hot heatsink properly.
